review 1: I can only think of one word to describe this book: boring.I couldn't even finish it because it was to painfully boring. It had so much promise, too. The book starts off well with Kate and her uncle Artemis preparing to flee before the wardens arrive to take away "the skilled" or people who can contact the dead, or something like that. Unfortunately Kate finds out she is one of the skilled and is captured by Silas. Her friend Edgar tries to save her alot and fails. There is an evil council woman. And basically that's as far as I got.The biggest problem with this book was the characters. I had no idea what kind of relationships they had, they had basically no personalities, we get almost no physical descriptions. Ugh. If I can't connect with the characters, than sorry, it's... more a no from me.
review 2: The summary of the book: In hiding since she was a small child, Kate Winters and a boy who worked in her uncle's bookstore attempt to free Kate's kidnapped uncle and the kidnappers get a hold of Kate and they find out that she has... POWERS!I personally did not like anything about the book.I didn't like was that I could not connect with the characters and know how they feel and I did not really understand the book because it was to slow.I would recommend this book to someone who likes witchcraft and slow books. less
