review 1: 3.5 stars thoughpolice is actually my first nesbø book. found it while im on a bookstore trip. the first three fourth of the book was really good, and if it continued like that I'd give it 4.5. but the latter one fourth ruined it all. no spoilers though hahahaI dont really like how he solved things up, and in my opinion it was really awful. but I really like his writing. very real and sometimes could make my heart race. good book, though I think I wont read his other books.
review 2: This is not a review as much as it is a praise. Jo Nesbø has been writing consistently excellent crime novels for quite a while now. Ever since things took a turn for the worse in Harry's life after the events depicted in "The Snowman", Nesbø 's novels have, in turn, progressive... morely turned darker and more violent than ever. While "Police" may be slightly less darker and adrenalinic than "Phantom" (Harry doesn't stab mobsters to death with corkscrews while keeping his slit throat together here!) I myself found it to be way more suspenseful and, might I add, touching. I just love what Nesbø has to offer to the crime genre. His unmistakably European take on police fiction coupled with a character that comes from the best American hardboiled tradition is something I just can't help appreciating. If you are a fan of Nesbø's do not miss this. less
