review 1: I still liked this book, but I felt like this one had more problems than the others in the series. The biggest being that it felt alot like the author was trying to rush to end the series. There were at least two different story lines that had gone through the entire series that were in ended in one book, and a possible third. To me I would have liked to see these story lines ended properly in their own books. It just felt like the endings were jammed together and that there wasn't enough time to pay proper attention to them. That being said I still feel like this is the best vampire series save maybe one or two out there. I just would have liked a stronger ending for the series.
review 2: Considering my problems with the overall series, I did enjoy this ... morelast novel. Although that it felt weird reading a few chapters from Nyx's perspective, I guess this was needed for the plot-development as she was privy to actions Mira wasn't. The last chapter or two felt a bit hurried and I was actually looking at the book when there were only about 20 pages left and asking myself if this maybe wasn't actually the last book and there would be another one. And then Drake resolved all the other major plot-lines and it was done.I wish we had seen more of this kind of Mira-Danaus-interaction from book 2-3 or so, as it would have made the whole series a lot more interesting.Of course, there was the kind of Deus-Ex-Machina going on with Mira's powers but well, I guess it's just part of the genre/type of novel.Anyway, I would only recommend the whole series if you have enough time on your hand and treat the whole series as one book, because especially the first few felt like incomplete works. Or, if you don't mind not getting every single reference, just start from the second to last book and leave the first four. While it does show some nice changes from the typical paranormal romance and is much darker, there are still lots of flaws that other series don't exhibit. less
