review 1: Mira is the Fire Starter, a nightwalker with the unique power to control fire. While some may think the naturi are earth loving fairies, Mira knows better. She's the world's only hope to save it from them. But at what cost?A fantastic fast-paced and exciting urban fantasy. A good second book in the series. It is a bridge book. While Mira makes some important moves. Some of which surprised her as much as they did me! I won't give any spoilers, but I do already have the third book in my hands and I'll be reading it right away.
review 2: Secrecy is everywhere. There are more naturi around than Mira originally suspected, the Coven is acting strangely and Mira is the key to something, but she just doesn't know what. Now Mira doesn't know who the good guys are and wh
... moreo the bad guys are, but she is determined to find out.The second in the series, Dayhunter was better than Nightwalker. I'm still not a huge fan of Mira, but she is growing on me. Danaus, however, is very interesting and although he is not who I was hoping he would be, I still really like his character. The vampire politics is interesting and I wish there was more on the vampire customs, for example, using the younger vampires as entertainment. The whole story is told from Mira's point of view and she stays outside the Coven and away from most vampires. The writing is decent but I think some editing could have eliminate maybe 50 pages of the book that I did not find interesting at all. For example:"It was an interesting viewpoint that I had not considered. If I had not been at Machu Picchu, the naturi would have most likely opened the door and returned to the earth. Things would have been vastly different if I had not lived."I know it is meant to make Mira more real or sympathetic, but to me, it is just the author adding more pages. I don't really care for this kind of introspection and there seems to be a lot of it. On the up side, it is not in italics. That is one of my pet peeves- characters having long monologues inside their head. All in all, this is a decent read for those who love the new vampire stories- full of politics, sexy outfits and a wise cracking female lead. less

3.5, I guess.I really needed more recaps in this books! I didn't remember enough of the first book and had trouble keeping track of even everything in this book. I felt like a lot of stuff kept changing and . . . I just didn't follow it all.I think I also needed more time to just stop and breathe and get to know the characters better. Will keep reading, though. At least, for now.
