review 1: I could probably quote my review for the last book verbatim. Again, it felt like no real ending but just the end of another chapter.Though I have to say that it's starting to get on my nerves how many people Drake keeps introducing that the reader is just supposed to simply accept as part of Mira's group of acquaintances or whatever. Yes, she's over 600 years old but it's still a bit weird to have to get to know character after character that are sometimes barely present for more than a few pages yet during those are treated as if the had always been one of the more important characters (Stefan in this book for instance). I don't know if I'm explaining it right but the whole thing just feels awkward, like every so often the author feels the need to use a new character, try... moreing to give the world a more authentic feel but actually making it seem even more superficial...At least now I'm already halfway through...
review 2: This book was almost a "the week after" book two. Not that that is bad, but it was definitely one you'd want to read after book 2, not as a stand-alone. Mira, the main character is still mopey and pretty self-centered. It was kind of boring to listen to her go over her issues and loneliness. She's supposed to be 600+ years old, maybe it's time to grow up. There are plenty of times where some maturity pops through, but overall she just sounds kind of tired and whiny. There are a lot of good action scene's in this book, and they're realistic to boot. People die and get hurt. Not everyone makes it to the end and that's as it should be. There is also a pretty good plot twist at the end that I enjoyed.Overall, I liked this book, just had an overall slight annoyance with the main character being so damned drama queen-ish. less
