review 1: While a book that semi-captured my attention, it failed to achieve a "Star Wars-ish" feel. It seemed to read more as a horror story with intermittent Star Wars elements added in. Some repetitive phrases and phrases coined through other works tended to disintegrate any connection that the reader has to specifically this piece. Otherwise, it was fairly well written. Stick with it, as the first couple chapters tend to drag on due to the sheer number of concurrent storylines. It becomes difficult to keep track of them, but as the characters die off, it slowly condenses into one main line, making it much easier to manage.
review 2: This book was a lot better than I expected. All I've heard about it is that people don't like the idea of zombies in Star Wars. Hon
... moreestly, zombies are nothing new. we have rakghouls, Geonosian zombies under a hivemind control, Nightsister corpses brought to life to fight Grievous and Dooku, and Boba Fett fighting zombies. This was just a more graphic and themed book than those events previously mentioned. The only thing I have to complain about is the uselessness of Zho. She ended up not being a completely unlikable character until about halfway through the novel, when she finds out just what she can make the orchid do. I enjoyed the orchid itself. The characterization of it just seemed to fit. Tulkh was a character that really grew on me, and his death really made an emotional impact. The writing style of this novel really captured the "horror" essence. I'm usually not into horror novels but I read (listened to) this in two days. Such a great book compared to the other one I was reading, Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi- Into the Void. Do not buy that book. It is not worth reading. less
