review 1: This book takes place during Season 5 (before episode 16 but at least after episode 3).As with the prior books, you should only read this book if you have seen the television show - Supernatural. You should also read it with the mindset that this is more for entertainment purposes rather than missing episodes out of the show.Compared to the prior books in this series, this story has lots of action and takes on a slight twist with the back story of the Civil War and Judas of Iscariot. I like how things keep moving, but as with the other books, the resolution of all the troubles in this particular town and the boys are glossed over.Side note: This is the first book that the author correctly describes Dean's eyes.

... moreelp all Supernatural fans deal with the hiatus in 2005. However, I am only getting around to reading it now. I'm a huge fan of the Supernatural series, so I was, of course, delighted on Christmas morning to find not one, but THREE Supernatural novels among my pile of gifts. I did read this book in December, but have only had the time to post a review now (please don't kill me).I began the book with very high hopes, but finished felling a little disappointed.I loved the concept of the plot, and it was written well enough, but I felt that the book itself was quite slow-paced, and only really captured my attention within the last few chapters. In my opinion, it was definitely one of those books that were just too hard to get in to, but I refused to give up, and I'm glad I persevered, because it did indeed redeem itself nearing the end of the book. The writer managed to maintain the strong bond between Sam & Dean very well, but the quick appearances and disappearances of Castiel were a bit odd. Yes, I know he does often pop out at random moments in the show, but he always comes back, especially when he says he would help the Winchesters. In this book, however, that wasn't the case. Another thing that annoyed me a bit, was how the spelled Cas as 'Cass'. There is only one 's' in Castiel, so was it really necessary to add in the extra 's', also, haven't we all, as a fandom, already agreed that it is 'Cas'? You'd think they'd listen, jeez, the nerve of some people eh? (haha!)Overall, I do think that this book could have been a lot better, and I was definitely expecting better. But, despite my disappointment, I do intend to read the other 2 novels I received in the hopes that they will restore my faith, and will prove to be far more satisfactory than this particular one. less
