review 1: Charlie's Parker is in my top 3 favorite characters ever. I love this character and all of his varied and assorted friends. Unfortunately we lost one in this book which had to happen sometime, but it is hard saying goodbye. The good news is some of the bad guys are dead too and I learned a whole lot more about the collector and Eldritch. I like how Mr. Connolly moves around in his books. Never settling to long on one person, therefore allowing me to gain insight into all the other characters and then bringing the story to this very creepy crescendo. Yep, I'd recommend this story and author.
review 2: This story has much more meat to it than the last book I reviewed, a Charlie Parker novella. Here we have the full cast assembled for a leisurely but never boring ... moreexcursion into the evil that pervades the world created by John Connolly. Where we might have a conspiracy novel, or a treasure search novel, we have a thriller seasoned with Fallen Angels, secret organizations, plus the treasure hunt and the conspiracies. Once one is willing to ignore the unnatural aspects of the story, one can get right into the gripping tale, fascinated by the characters, the interwoven stories, the finality of some deaths and the strains that will continue into the next Parker outing, which awaits us on the shelf.Recommended. less
