review 1: Tony Chu has been transferred to the traffic division, but that doesn't mean trouble can't find him. When his daughter Olive goes missing, Tony tries to track her down, and gets kidnapped himself. Turns out Olive has new abilities even greater than her father's, and is now using them to help her father's enemies. Meanwhile, Colby's new partner, a half-robot lion, is making his life miserable.Poor Tony can't catch a break... he was so cute when he had that first good day as a traffic officer, and then it all went to shit. Odd to describe this comic series as occasionally cute, when most of the time everyone's beat up or cut up or eating decayed bodies. But it is a lot of fun despite the gruesome subject matter...
review 2: This volume was pretty exciting! To
... moreny gets a new job with municipal traffic which actually turns out to be pretty great, until it's ruined by his old boss Appleby bad mouthing him. And oh yeah, by him not showing up for work because he was KIDNAPPED. The things that happened to Tony during his kidnapping were just horrific. I'll spare you the details, but how anybody can think treating someone like that is ok is beyond me. I'm so glad Amelia was persistent in her search for Tony, and love how he got his revenge. I just hope he lives. (I'm pretty sure he's going to live.)Olive is also kidnapped in this volume, but by Savoy, and is treated much better than Tony by her kidnappers. She is one strong girl - I love that she agreed to work with them, but insisted that they work together as coworkers. It'll be interesting to watch them as they try to track down the Russian. Also interesting is what we now know about Tony and Olive's powers - when they ingest blood, they also absorb the abilities of that person. For Olive, it was karate ninja skills; for Tony, it was a zippy fastball. I'm definitely curious to see how this plays out.And of course, we can't forget John, who gets transferred into the USDA, sleeps with his (rather old and cranky) boss for favors, and ends up with the cybernetically-enhanced super rooster Poyo as a partner. At least he's better than that jerk lion! On to volume 6. I'm hoping Tony and John can get partnered up again, because I love those two together. less
