review 1: I found this book very tedious, which was incredibly disappointing! I absolutely loved the 100 year old man... so I was hoping for something similar. Unfortunately it's essentially exactly the same, just longer and without the novelty. I found myself constantly checking the percentage on my kindle, wondering about the next book I would read and where the novel was going. Having said that, it was mildly entertaining at the beginning before it started to drag.
review 2: Slightly underwhelmed by this. I might be judging a little harshly. Great writing and impressive research, it just didn't have that same 'bonkers' quality that The Hundred Year Old Man had. ... moreed by how stupid the truth really is.It was a book club that voted for this (well, the members of the book club, the club itself is showing little or no sign of becoming a person) and I think the members wanted a safe bet and to continue enjoying THYOM. I suspected that it wouldn't be the same, and it wasn't. And, arguably, nor should it be. If you like your politics but want a light-hearted take on it, then this is for you. If you want a repeat of the mad-cap ride that was The Hundred Year Old Man, then you will be disappointed. less
