Johannes Cabal
review 1: Another great addition to the Cabal stories. Horst and Johannes are the least ideal heroes one could imagine but they are exactly what is needed to fight off an organization determined to unleash the forces of darkness into the world. Vampire and necromancer, side by side, along with a cast of winning characters will take on were creatures, zombies, and creatures not of this world to defend humanity's freedom. Written with wry humor and understated elegance of thought, this is a must read.
review 2: If you're a fan of the Johannes Cabal series, this one will not disappoint. If you haven't read the other Cabal books yet, don't start with this one. It's absolutely phenomenal, lives up to the delightful zany potential of its well-wrought characters, but it defin
... moreitely relies heavily upon the established universe from the first three. Thankfully, its ending was brought to a finer point than the previous novel's, and once again I'm already hungry for another. This series is like a tonic--nay, a spritzer--for the mind; entertaining, but not stultifying. Howard has an impressive command of language, and I truly enjoy a "fantasy" novel (if you can really classify it as such) that doesn't patronize the reader or under-utilize the vast depth of the English vocabulary. less

Nice touches of humor and an interesting premise. I'll be reading the other books in the series.

A bit lighter than the previous Cabal book but not too light and just as entertaining.
