review 1: The world has shrunk down to one tiny civilization kept safe in the 'Arclight' a protective bubble for the humans that have not been infested with the horrible parasite called 'The Fade'. Marina is the only hope for the rest that there are other humans still surviving out there, only she has no memory of what happened before she was rescued a few months prior. The Fade are tiny robotic machines created centuries ago to cure illness and infirmity in humans but things got out of control. Sounds fascinating doesn't it? I thought so. However I was greatly disappointed. The narration and writing style is so unclear that at times I had no idea what was happening. I found Tobin (too close to Tobias I thought. There is also a character named Rue. For real, come up with some new na... moremes.) to be a totally superfluous character. I know he was one of the main players but he did absolutely nothing for the story in my opinion. To top it all off I hated Marina's choices at the end of the book, both about her love life and her future. I haven't decided about the sequel yet. Rue was awesome (despite the name) and I loved The Fade, so I am going with two stars.
review 2: Arclight is a smart sci-fi thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you not want to put is down for anything. Packed with suspense, Arclight is about a girl, Marina, who begins questioning everything that she thought was true. Everything that she was told to be true. Unsure of what is lies and what is not, she sets out to find out the truth. Are the Fade really bad? Why is this one acting like it knows me? And where was I before I came to the Arclight? less
