review 1: Actual Rating: 3 1/2 starsVolume 2 is smaller than Volume 1... in actual size and in quality. After enjoying Vol.1 so much, I had high hopes for this series. The artwork was pretty great as was the writing style and the plot but for some reason Vol.2 didn't carry all those features over. The artwork did continue to be fantastic (with that same bug-eyed look of shock) as Catwoman looked badass as usual and the writing was pretty good as well but the directions in which the plots went left me feeling cold. Yes, I know the Owls arc cut through each of the Batfamily titles, but it felt forced in Cat's world and out of place. "Dollhouse" was kinda creepy but you get the feeling that you have seen it before.Vol.2 seemed more feline-focused with little Selina but then again, it's ... morecalled "Catwoman", not "The Adventures of Selina Kyle".I'm not giving up on this series yet but I'm not as antsy to acquire Vol.3 as I was.
review 2: 3.5 out of 5. Not the worst nor the best New 52 offering, though Winick, seasoned pro that he is, is writing some great obstacles for Catwoman. Vol 1 was impressive and Vol 2 isn't as much. Sadly, Winick didn't get to expand on the cliffhanger scenarios of the end of Vol 2 and I have little faith in what Ann Nocenti dishes up in Vol 3.What I'm hoping for/hoped for is something that more closely resembles the pre-New 52 Catwoman - someone more adult than the sometimes teenager-like energetic person that Selina Kyle appears to be. Sadly, DC hasn't made rich characters a high priority in this new mythology model of theirs. less
