review 1: Interesting and compelling, but somehow it felt too brisk and sketchy to be truly good. Flitting the focus from each sibling and also Rev. Bronte prevented me from feeling really at home with any of the characters. However, I did love the portrayal of Emily, though, who appears so unknowable that this glancing approach works well with her. It's inspired me to embark on a Bronte re-reading session very soon though, which can never be a bad thing.
review 2: I enjoyed reading about the Brontes. Their lives were hard and dark but the family had spirit and the love (torture?) of writing.
