review 1: A quality short story. Julia Crouch masterfully builds up tension in this highly relatable story. We've all been on one of those journeys where we are in close proximity to a person you think is so irritating that they've been set out to annoy you on purpose. Well multiply that feeling and you get this short story. Crouch writes Sally's annoyance and agitation so well that you can feel you have taken her place on the train journey. A memorable read.
review 2: My reaction at the end was, seriously? I thought it was well written, and I sympathized with the main character; you want her to learn to stand up for herself and grow a backbone, until the end, when you realize she's killed a guy mainly because he's annoying. ... moreecoming a psycho; she's just become crazy. In a story that seemed realistic until that point, it was very jarring. Oh well; it was a free story. less
