review 1: This book was just okay for me. For starters, I listened to the audiobook. The problem with audiobooks is that the narrator can make or break a book and this narrator just didn't work for me. The dialog was overly dramatic at times and the voices used for the male characters were unrealistic with campy southern or east coast accents. Especially the Spanish character that sounded French. I tried not to let this ruin the story for me. As for the story itself, it's one of those books where you know after the first chapter how its going to end. Which I am okay with but everything in between was either a lot of banging their heads against the wall with the exact same argument over and over or weird filler that didn't make sense. I didn't quite get the whole soccer mom thing goi... moreng on with all the starlets/serious actresses. I also didn't get the whole international arms dealer to terrorists turn Dr. Phil. Perhaps it was meant to be cheesy? I don't know...The overall plot itself had promise and there was some cheeky humor that earned some points for me. Perhaps had a read this myself I would have rated it higher. I'm not sure though.
review 2: Selesai buku ke 2 seri ini dan bakal berlanjut ke buku 1 nya yg jg udah setengah jalan. Baca seri ini emang reverse, dr buku 3 dl baru bk 2 dan diakhiri dgn ngelarin bk 1. Agak aneh, tp gpp deh *sigh*Jujur, lebih suka buky 3 nya, Jack dan Ausrey drpd buku ini, ttg Michael dan Leah. Lucu sih, terutama ketika Michael mengaku kalo dia dl agen CIA dan jd bahan ledekan abis2an setelah itu. Ngakak juga pas bagian Leah disandera si teroris ganteng Juan Carlo, tp mereka malah sibuk membahas perasaan mrk. Well, ceritanya ttg Leah yg setelah ditinggalkan Michael 5 thn yg silam dgn begitu saja tanpa ada alasan yg jelas (yg ternyata krn dia adalah agen CIA), akhirnya bertemu lg dgn Michael di lokasi shooting filmnya. Bertemu lg dgn Leah, Michael berniat utk memenangkan Leah kembali dan sempat hampir berhasil. Tp kemudian ada cewek lain yg mengaku jg berkencan dgn Michael yg membuat Leah kembali mempertanyakan ketulusan Michael yg berpredikat sbg playboy sejati. Blm lg dgn cowok Spanyol yg mengaku bernama Adolfo yg sedang mencoba mendekati Leah, tp ternyata adalah seorang teroris bernama Juan Carlo yg ingin membalas dendam kpd Michael. Singkatnya, hubungan Leah dan Michael benar2 kacau.Walaupun tetap berakhir dgn manis (harus donk), tp agak lelah dgn Leah-Michael yg super galau *mendesah panjang*. Agak kurang suka jg dgn Michael yg setelah berpisah dgn Leah bgt gampang gonta ganti pacar walaupun dgn alasan mengira tdk bakal bertemu Leah lg dan tdk ada yg dia cintai spt Leah. But still....Jauh lbh suka dgn Jack dan Eli. Setelah putus yg ke 2 jg, cm dlm bbrp bulan mrk bertemu kembali dan Michaelnya sdh pacaran dgn cewek laen (yg langsung ditinggalkan di tmpt tanpa basa basi bgt Michael tahu Leah msh mencintai dia #eh?), sementara Leah selain dgn Michael gak pernah dgn siapapun jg.Tp intinya, buku ini tetap lmyn asik dibaca dan I'm still a big fan of this series. less
