review 1: Tobin's father was hanged for a crime he didn't commit -- the theft of some precious jewels -- largely based on the testimony of eight-year-old Lily, who saw the man riding away from the estate that fateful night. Fifteen years later, Tobin has returned as a wealthy and titled man with a grudge. I liked the setup for this book. There was real tension between these two, because Tobin is understandably angry, and Lily is in real trouble as a result. Gradually, he starts to see how an 8-year-old might not be the most culpable person in that circumstance, especially since she told nothing but the truth. I wasn't as thrilled with the way this ended. It wasn't anything specific, it just didn't feel like it built to anything. The biggest tension was at the beginning, IMO, and aft... moreer that it kind of went gradually downhill. Overall it was a quick, decent read.
review 2: Julia London's new book "The Revenge of Lord Eberlin" is totally awesome! I loved the storyline of an angry, vengeful man who will stop at nothing to destroy the lives of anyone who gets in his way. Tobin Scot is a man on a mission who sets out to get his due, even if his target is the lovely and desirable Lily Boudine. Tobin feels that revenge is the only way to go. You will feel Tobin's pain in loosing his family and the panic that overwhelms him at times. You will see a woman who feels his pain and will do anything she can to save the man she loves. Thank you Ms London for this beautiful story of love and redemption. I look forward to the next book titled "The Seduction of Lady X". less
