review 1: I just love Julia London romances! The Seduction of Lady X had me crying often, but smiling at the end! One of the better HEA romances I've ready recently! London's H/H characters are deeply drawn for the reader making the journey they travel one that is completely shared by the reader. Even the side characters make an impact and are far from being superficially done. I also enjoyed reading a romance where the hero was not the wealthy, powerful aristocrat of the story, or the mighty, physically perfect warrior. That's not to say, the hero isn't sensually attractive and strongly capable because he most definitely is. It's just nice to see a man with a more common upbringing ascend the ladder firstly by his own hard work. Then of course, destiny shines on him a little too :... more-) I like that the heroine is also well matched to the hero. As the reader, I was left with the feeling that while she was undoubtedly attractive, she was not an acclaimed beauty. At least to no one, except the hero. It was also a breath of fresh air to encounter a hero who not only had his own serious moral code, but who could actually live by it. He was also the most empathic hero I think I've encountered. He truly cared about the life and conditions of others, and was willing to sacrifice to improve their lives. It really is just a wonderfully, touching story with no disappointments to speak of unless you are one who likes to keep the eyes dry. :-D
review 2: Olivia was such a brave heroine for dealing with Edward. I liked how strong she was and how she took care of her little sister Alexa when she needed her the most. Harrison was a great hero. Loving Olivia knowing that he could never truly have her because she was married made me hope that they would get their happy ending sooner than they did. The author surprised me with this book. When Harrison offered to marry Alexa I couldn’t believe it but it showed what an honorable man he was, honorable enough for someone like Olivia. I also couldn’t believe how long it took for Edward to die. After reading the synopsis on the back of the book I was under the impression that she would be widowed quickly. I had mixed feelings about Edward being in practically the whole book. There were moments that maybe Edward might change and maybe become the kind of husband Olivia needed, but then I wanted her with Harrison so Edward had to go. I loved the ending. I liked how Harrison’s life changed thanks to Tobin and Lily finding him and how Alexa’s true love came back for her! This was my favorite in the series and we finally learned the truth about the jewels! less

I thought the previous book in this series was fabulous. This, sadly, was not.
