review 1: I didn't really think much of this book. We still have Carl the troubled, sarcastic, and occasionally lazy police inspector and his helpers the inscrutable Assad and the unpredictable but intuitive Rose. The latter two are still civilian police employees as far as I know, but act more and more like police officers. I didn't find the main case in this book to be up to the standard of this series. At least half of the book is Marco trying to avoid being captured and killed. It seems more like plot for a movie than a mystery novel.
review 2: This was good, but not one of the best. This truly was more about Marco, a young Gypsy boy caught up in a very bad situation, than the rest of Department Q. And the Marco bits flew by while the rest dragged a bit. Still fil... moreling in some of the blanks of the main characters, and the mystery was very convoluted with different bad guys at all different levels. Interesting mystery with a better flavor of Denmark than previous books. less
