review 1: Not great. The heroine and hero are oatmeal-bland; the plot seemed overly contrived (I mean, between the POV shifts it's obvious that the hero and heroine are going to make it to Scotland unhindered, so...?); there's a random spy-subplot tossed in for "reasons" and there's horrible characterization of a sister who enjoys sex and is therefore evil and bad and gross!!(Seriously, though: please stop making your female villains bad because they like to have sex and with more than one person. SEX IS NOT EVIL.)
review 2: Historical English revenge on a road trip romance with a wronged suitor who is rejected because he is a bastard although born to a Marquess and very wealthy, but still not good enough for a noble legally born lady. The incident is in the prologue and
... more we see each character's personality shown true in this little scene that changes everyone's life. So we skip ahead about eight years and MR. Oliver “Beau” Blackthorn still has ideas to get his revenge, but it is thwarted by the surprise arrival of Lady Chelsea Mills-Beckman the youngest sister of the family that wronged Beau. Si Chelsea is being forced into a marriage so she runs off immediately and kidnaps Beau into her plans to gain freedom from her nasty family. The majority of the story is based on the fact that the main characters are en route to get married in Scotland over the smith's anvil which I really need to look into the history of that the next time I'm at the library...Great story about a bastard that gets what he deserves and not in the traditional way because this is a kind caring man who happens to have parents that were never married. The older sister Lady Madelyn and brother Thomas Earl of Brean were not good people, but strangely enough they seem just 'normal' for their station in historical English society. I am tempted to order the other three books in the series, but let me make a prediction... the Marquess in the last book is going to prove that he married the actrice mother and the children are no longer bastards. So I'll have to go buy them and find out if I was right.384 pages and bought used for 3.80$ from Amazon3 stars less

Terrific series. A chase novel with a particularly intriguing couple and an unexpected denouement.
lynn
Nicely written and very funny in places. A good romantic regency novel.

This looks like another good series. Can't wait to read the others.
Svenofnine
Didn't really involve a rakish male.
