review 1: I nearly put this book down after the first chapter. The heroine is "foxy"? The hero "has a thing for redheads" (which, of course, the heroine is). There's a lot of name-dropping of what I assume are characters in other books by the same author. There are a lot of cliches and random unnecessary details that don't go anywhere. Fortunately, by the second half of the book, the mystery picks up--discovering who's stalking the heroine--and either the writing smoothed out, or the plot was engaging enough that it wasn't distracting. At any rate, it moved this from 2 stars to 3.The romance itself was so-so. The heroine is secretive initially for a good reason, but after that secret comes out, she doesn't learn, and just randomly keeps things secret, which makes me want to s... moremack her. There's a subplot and secondary romance with a younger half-sister which I'm guessing were there to set the stage for a future book, because they didn't really have anything to add to this story.
review 2: I loved the story line. Boy meets strong willed/successful girl in distress. They have an immediate physical attraction, and thenthey fall in love....in the mean time, there is a suspenseful and interesting story line paralleling the story as well. Will definitelyread more of this author, but going to step away for a bit so that they can renew themselves in my mind! This is my favoriteromance novel writer though...am glad to know that she has written many more! less
