review 1: I haven't read a book by Kat Martin in a while and realized just how much I enjoy them with this book. She has a little bit of mystery and suspense along with the romance. Good stories about ex-SEALS that find a life outside of the military. This book was about Sam who discovered he had an eight year old son, Sam, and about Claire who had promised the boy's mother before she died, that she would take care of Sam. The story starts in California and moves to Texas and then to the swamps of Louisiana and keeps you guessing at every turn.
review 2: the idea of this book is wonderful, however it could have gone terribly terribly wrong had the author not been as skilled as she was with the small detail.Ben could have easily been a male chauvinistic pig, however
... morehe lets claire come along wherever he goes and respects her for her contributions. Claire could have been a weak wimpy female lead that bends to ben's will but she is determined and stands her ground without yielding. Thats being said the two of them are tsunderes who can being a couple with strong masculine and feminine energy at the same time. The storyline is very nice, i feel that it was a little predictable which is why it's only 4 stars but besides that it was excellent, i like the way she doesn't end the story as soon as they find sam, and gives us a little taste of life after the adventure. less
