review 1: Like many other readers, I find this series delightful because of the terrific word play the books always contain. This one is no letdown as Seymour Hope, Ignatius B. Grumply, and Olive C. Spence, accept an offer from a hot Hollywood director interested in turning their 43 Old Cemetery Road stories into a movie. But nothing goes as planned, and Olive arrives to find that she doesn't even have a part in the film. Seymour and Ignatius also face their own challenges, as they seem drawn to the spotlight and briefly forget where they came from. Readers will laugh as Olive takes over and sends directors and would-be image makers running for cover. The book is written in a series of scripts, letters, contracts, telegrams, and newspaper articles filled with delightfully named char... moreacters such as director Phillip D. Rubbish, actress Ivana Oscar, librarian M. Balm, caretaker Hugh Briss, and FAA spokesperson Don Worrie. For those who enjoy their humor seasoned with an intellectual work-out, it doesn't get funnier than this.
review 2: I love reading books by Kate Klise! The illustrations and the plots are always so interesting, you just want to keep reading. This book is no different. I really wish I would have read the first four books in the series, but I wasn't even aware of the series. It is about a father, Mr. Grumply, his son Seymour, and their dead mother Olive. They own this fabulous mansion and have been writing a story about it for their local paper. Then a sneaky movie director gets them to sign a contract to make a movie about their stories. However, without reading the contract, they sign over the rights of the book, and many other things to the movie director. Is there anyway they can get out of this contract?? I loved this book. The illustrations were fabulous! less
