review 1: A few years ago a 5th grade student recommended this book to me. I just got around to reading it and I'm glad I did! It's perfect for middle to upper elementary readers. A grumpy, old author of children's books about ghosts (who doesn't like children or believe in ghosts) moves in to a summer home that comes with some unexpected additions. The lovely Victorian home includes an eleven-year-old boy, his 190-year-old best friend (a ghost), and a cat (did I mention the author can't stand cats?). All kinds of fun ensues.A very cool aspect of the book is that it's written in letters with a few pictures. The whole story is told in letters written between the characters. This is a fun, cute story about friendship and ghosts.A fun, easy read for mid-upper elementary students.... more Highly recommended.
review 2: Book Review Author kate klise title: 43 Old Cemetery Road Dying to Meet youIgnus grumply, an awful character, doesn’t believe in ghost’s and he doesn’t like children. But when he soon finds out that he’s living in a house with a ghost named olive c. Spence and a 11 year old boy named seymour, whose parents left him one night to go on tour to Europe. But, the parents thought that Seymour was crazy because he was friends with olive. You're probably wondering why is a ghost living in a house for no reason?Well, she has been haunting the city (ghastly) for hundreds of years.Only until one person publishes her book.She died in 1911. Okay back to Ignus all he want’s is to finish his series at the new house. Suddenly, he falls in love with olive and being more cooperative with Seymour. Out of nowhere they all start to be working together to finish the book series.Look out because who knows. Will they finish the ghost tamer books so Ignus’s career will not be destroyed and that Seymour can by the house or get his parents to live with him. I think this book is amazing because theres all sorts of stuff in it. I say that because in the book it talks about stuff that are like surprising and amazing. About the Author and illustratorSarah likes to draw but kate loves to write. The first book they wrote wasn’t very good at all. The first book they made they were only 10 and 11 years old. The setting is at Ignis b. Grumplys’ old house,olive c.spence’s house. At 43 old cemetery road, and the cemetery.At ghastly illinous.Ignus grumply hates kids. Plus he hates people.His actions are cruel and surprising. I say that because in the beginning of the story he’s cruel he doesn’t believe in ghost’s ( olive c. spence the ghost). He doesn’t like children but time past’s and he’s getting to like seymour (the child) and olive c. spence.I love how it leaves you hanging at the end because in the book olive always says “the end for now”.I like how ignus cares about the kid because he has no parents. And I don’t like how they leave seymour when he was just a child.I say that because in the book his parents leave him.I think that’s cruel and not mature.Another weakness is lea and diana make fun of the kid just because he has a friend thats a ghost Because in the book the reason why they leave him is because he has a friend thats a ghost.I would recommend this book to someone who likes surprising but sad books.I say that because in the book it’s mostly sad but........ oh I can’t tell you that part you’ll just have to read the book. And I rate this book a 100% or 5 star amazing book because it will not be disappointing when you read it because in the book there’s a good part about seymour that makes me happy.YOU need to find out by flipping pages and reading.I infer that in life some people just like to believe in what they believe just like me.My thought’s,comments and questions about the book is what will happen if olive left them? And what will make olive leave.I think what will make olive leave is when someone sells her book and then she might be done.So Know do you want to read the book? Yes, then start flipping and reading! less
