review 1: 4.0 -4.3*insert my gasp*Goodness! That was intense. Like, locked in a vice, need a drink of water intense! The twists did not let up for this one and ish just got a little more real, not that it wasn't before! Can I just say that this author creates wonderful, dynamic characters that keep you glued to the story and pulling through to learn of their fates. The book itself is so dense with twists with turns and subplots without being too tangled or tied up at all. I really appreciate how the mystery and suspense is strung through and we actually eventually get answers to things that were hinted at or mentioned in previous books. Continuity is a beautiful thing that Wright masters well. I was a little nervous at one of the POV switch's at first (yall know who i mean if you re... moread) because it sounded too much like Lanore's for my taste, but then as we progressed along i'm like ahhh, there's their voice. The POV alteration was pretty smooth too, btw. I was interested in both near equally throughout the story. Now, for the major plot twist. It had me like :OOOOOOOO and I was like okay, this is where the book will be ruined because of a certain character's response or nah... but nope! Wasn't ruined, luckily. I was gonna be pissed! ':0The Zulu x Lanore deal which I thought hung flat throughout the series actually gets some layers in this one that makes it a bit more intriguing (though feminist me is gettin twitchy...)Still wish I knew more about them and their romance scenes weren't supplemented for sex in the beginning. I mean it just doesn't hold up in comparison to Lala and Mcshee with their history and actual tender moments. overall, good freakin stuff. I shall wait patiently for book 4 :]
review 2: I used to say that Kenya Wright was one of my favorite indie writers, now I have to just say she is one of my favorite writers period. I finally got this one and I am kicking myself for not getting it the first day it came out. Wildfire Gospel was a total and complete emotional roller coaster. If I could pay Wright to only write I would forget homeschooling my kids and go back to work full-time so she could stay home and finish the next book in this series, I can't wait.We get to see more insight into the relationship between Lanore and Meshack. We go deeper into Zulu's past and see a side of him I always hoped we would see. If this was a movie, Graham would have stolen the show I'm sure. This was such a great book that I would have to discuss spoilers in order to fully explain the delicious goodness. There are so many things that could happen in this series that I hope we get to see many, many more installments.Another awesome hit. Buy one for you and your friends so yo can have someone to discuss this series with immediately after you finish reading it. less
