review 1: I actually just bought the book for the author's name originally, seeing as it is (well, was) my name too. It reads a bit like a young adult/teen book in places where maybe the dialogue is a little stilted or a word is repeated several times (e.g. "giggling" seemed to crop up a lot) but actually I really enjoyed it, even though I figured it out 2/3 of the way in and it was a quick, easy read for when you don't want anything too intellectual and really just want a bit of entertainment. The police culture information was pretty spot on most of the time too. I'm going to read the rest in this series.
review 2: I have read some of the later Jessica Daniel novels so I was able to partially guess the outcome but that did not spoil it for me. Jessica is such a compel
... moreling character, I just cannot get enough of her or these novels. I am a massive fan of Manchester settings in novels so this fed my addictive nicely. The end is really scary ... Highly recommended. Next on my list is Think of the Children and I'm very excited! less

A completely average book. There is nothing special about the plot, the characters, or the setting.
