review 1: ARC provided by NetGalley and Grand Central PublishingA Christmas Prayer by Kimberla Lawson Roby was a sweet, fun, quick read. I enjoyed every minute of this book. Never having read anything by Ms. Roby before, I had no idea what to expect. But, this was just a nice book about woman still grieving for her mother at Christmas and trying to deal with other stresses in her life at the same time. What I really enjoyed was her future mother-in-law. Rarely do you meet a character who is as nasty as this woman. She was so over-the-top. It was great! She just made this book for me. The rest of the book was sweet and up-lifting and a genuinely nice Christmas book. Thankfully, the mother-in-law gave it some much needed spice. A great way to start the holi... moredays!
review 2: I picked A Christmas Prayer as a quick-read for Thanksgiving weekend. I've always enjoy a wholesome holiday story. This book did not disappoint. While only the main character is well developed, tidbits about the supporting characters are revealed. There is more than enough drama to go around. The main character must overcome obstacles to have the life she really wants. This book is a quick easy read. I would recommend it to anyone that likes a little drama before getting to the happy ending. less
