review 1: I wasn’t aware that when I started this book that while this was the third book in the series, it wasn’t a standalone. Taking that into consideration, the beginning part of the story I was a lot confused about, but I did push past and kept reading and I’m very glad that I did so.I thought that the characters were really well written and very easy to connect with. There was a lot of action that was happening through the story that really kept my attention and kept me wanting to read more. This book did also make me want to read the other books in the series because it was that interesting, and there was enough hints given about what had happen prior to this book that really make me want to find out more about them!I would recommend this book to anyone who has read ... morethe other books in the series, and for anyone who is looking for a new read.Reviewed by Crystal Marie for Crystal’s Many Reviewers*Copy provided for review*
review 2: Wonderful third book in this series of the paranormal adventures of Stephen Day, a justiciar charged with policing sorcerers, and his lover, the unconventional Lucien, Lord Crane. Stephen is a workaholic and a bit blind to the internal troubles of the justiciary, which seems bent on not supporting its agents at all, even when dark and dangerous magic seems more evident than ever. This creates friction in his relationship, since Lucien dislikes living with the restrictions of England's society and is only staying for Stephen, and Stephen isn't around and seems headed towards giving everything, including his life, working to save others.Dark doings are happening. Murder in the most horrible ways imaginable. Naturally Stephen and Lucien become involved. Definitely read these books in order! And if you have been, you should enjoy this book as much as the first two! less
