review 1: Three neighbors are not able to get along and find themselves sentenced to attend a reading discussion group for a year. The first book is Murder On The Orient Express. The group's finds they all agree that orange-peanut chicken made by the local diner Orient Express is,the best meal they can have. All meet at the dinner to find the owner stabbed to death. An unusual spring snow storm strands them all together. The characters are different and describe well. At times it is funny. I like Ms Logan style and look forward to more from her. The Button Box Mysteries by her are 5 stars.
review 2: The premise is as far-fetched as they come--three contentious neighbors are sentenced by the magistrate who's sick of their fighting to start a reading group at the local lib... morerary (which needs a reading group to qualify for funding). Then a freak snowstorm strikes, the three--plus another reading group member who just wants to read books--find a body, everyone moves into Bea's new bed and breakfast because she has a generator, and they solve the murder. The reader can also guess at the secret that has Bea fleeing to quiet South Bass island from bustling Manhattan. But it's fun to read, anyway. less
