review 1: So, OK, Another in the Market Garden series by L.A. Witt and Aleksandr Voinov. It took me a while to start this book, probably because of the cover - but then I know nothing about paintballing so didn't recognise the great big hint it is if you do. So, extreme paintballing with an all male group, and, now we've got the title lined up it all makes sense. Fine, there is pretty much what you expect with this series, and let's face it we know why we keep coming back for more, but there is also something darker about this one, a more sombre than usual note that is there from the beginning, and it takes a while before it is all spelt out. There is a poignancy in the play off between the main characters, the club owner and the younger man he falls for, a tension in the realisa... moretion of what they have to lose and gain. Both have had to cope with a similar tragedy in the near past, and this effects their differing outlooks, with one cutting himself off from close human interaction, the other deciding you had to enjoy life to the full before it was taken away from you. Thoughtful and unsettling it touches upon other common frailties, age difference, wealth inequality, and that ever present monster - what other people might think. For an M/M bodice ripper it was really quite grown up :) And if you are into combat pants and dog tags then this one's for you. E
review 2: What starts out as a hedonistic story about an American ex-military rentboy, his British boss, and his kinky "captures" on the paintball field quickly transcends 'predictably exciting' and 'traditionally sexy' and barrels straight into tackling serious issues with sobering consequences and heart-wrenching emotional highs and lows. I was already a fan of the Market Garden series before starting this book, but Capture and Surrender completely blew me away. Not only did the authors develop two fairly untouched characters (one is completely new) from the series and incorporate the storyline beautifully into the events of other chapters in Market Garden, they took on a difficult subject and presented it logically and with heart. You can read this as a standalone with no ill effects on your potential enjoyment of other stories in the series (even those that came before), so whether or not you're new to the rent boys of Market Garden, you should absolutely run over to Riptide Publishing and snag this incredible story. Highly recommended for people who enjoy red hot m/m romance with a side of D/s and a heavy shot of reality. less

A solid story. The paint also added a nice touch to this already unique story.

I liked this book, but it was a bit more serious than I was expecting.
