review 1: I don't want to mark this book as "read" because I didn't finish it. But I did want to rate it so that I know not to borrow it from the library again. The premise was interesting but I felt the main character was an idiot. She just blindly trusted the thug who showed up to harass her, but wouldn't allow someone else to explain to her exactly who he was. She just kept interrupting him and refusing to listen, even though it would have immediately cleared up a lot of confusion. Of course, had she listened to someone who actually knew what was going on, the book would have been under 100 pages long...
review 2: I remember now why I don't like Christian romance. Even though I am a devout Christian, myself, the references to God and the characters' relationships with
... more him somehow come across as shallow and embarrassingly ardent at the same time. But this book in itself was enjoyable to read. The author had a pleasant voice, and I enjoyed my time with her. I wasn't sure about the resolution, though. How did admitting that you need God's help make it OK to have an overbearing husband? I'm still not sure how it was all resolved, but I guess a few kisses in a carriage can change one's mind about anything. less
