review 1: I received an advanced readers edition off of Goodreads First Reads a while back. This book definitely caught my interest once I started reading it. Probably had a lot to do with my odd fascination for Amish novels and my personal interest in careers of law enforcement. The author has a lot of talent and definitely knows how to put together a great read! Though I do wish it had more of a unique spin to make it stand out amongst other mystery books, I enjoyed reading it nonetheless.
review 2: I have enjoyed every single one of Castillo’s series set in Amish country. Let’s face it… we’re all kind of intrigued by the Amish. And Castillo has found success with this series and is cranking them out at a good speed. Her main character, Kate, is plenty loveable... more in all of her perfection, and neatly walks between both the Amish and English world. Or maybe not so neatly. Castillo’s got a good thing going here, and this works just fine as summer reading, or anytime reading. If this is your first time encountering Castillo do start at the beginning of the series. It makes a difference. less
