review 1: This book is part of a series (the Triple Threat - which is similar to the Woman's Murder Club). While I found the plot good and it had lots of twists and turns and touched on more than a few issues - wife beating, stalking, inappropriate relations between senators and pages, there were a few things that detracted which made the book much less believable. For instance - Federal prosecutors do not go after local crime. That is for city, county or the state to handle. One of the main characters Allison is a federal prosecutor. She prosecuted a date raper ??? How??? Also the same applies to the FBI. They investigate federal crimes not local. Unless I am wrong, Portland, Oregon has a local police force and all the crime that was mentioned in the book seemed local. So... more that seemed like the authors were rather lazy in their research. They seemed to know about the grand jury system, though and the Congressional Page program. So I could be wrong. The characters were a bit flat but they will probably get better in future books.
review 2: This was a first book in a new series for me, from a new author. This is a good series it kind of reminded me of the James Patterson series "The Murder Club". A group of women in different jobs are friends and work together quietly to solve a murder mystery. The story revolves around a page to the U.S, Senate who is murdered and the coverup that results. It had a good storyline and certainly sets itself up for more books ahead. I appreciated that the author mentions prayer, God several times within the story line. It is not the focus of the story, but I find it refreshing that this author isn't afraid to say those words. I sometimes think it is more acceptable to put in a few four letter words, or a character that sleeps with anyone/anything, then to mention any reference to faith. less

After I finished the book I read the author's bio and thought 'that explains a lot...'

Ms. Wiehl should stick to her job at FOX News or lawyering. This was not very good!!
