Triple Threat
review 1: This book gets it's name from this intensive mostly conservative radio talk show host, that stands up for the underdog but tends to offend many. His name is Jim Fate with the program Hand of Fate who is murdered by opening a package with poisonous gas inside. The three main characters are best friends. Allison Pierce who is the Federal Prosecutor. Nicole Hedges who it appears works with Allison professionally a bit more often. She is a Special FBI Agent. And last, but by no means least Cassidy Shaw who works for TV station Channel 4 as a crime reporter. They live in Portland Oregon. All three of their stories are given moments of attention amongst piecing together clues about who may have killed Jim. As someone who automatically stops and prays all the time, it was like a ... morebreath of fresh air to see one of the characters do this. The book was hard to put down. I have not yet gotten to read the first novel (this is #2) but it is called a triple threat with the three working together. Each dinner they go out together is climaxed with a chocolate desert of some kind and three spoons. I kind of had my suspicions early on in the book, but nothing tangible until all the way toward the end. Fun book to read.
review 2: Book 2 of the triple threat series and well I can't say that it has gotten better. The premise is timely (terrorist attacks)and should have held me spell bound since in fact the premise is not at all improbable but again, I felt it fell flat. These women I just find odd. They are all supposed to be really smart and supposed to be the closet of friends but yet fail to share the most important facts of their lives (or cover them up). They repeatedly lie to each other even it is just by omission. Their conversations are stiff and stilted, their backgrounds are farfetched too (are these the most unlucky women in the world?) I also thought that if this book is proposed to be Christian, it truly missed the mark. less
