review 1: Just found my new favorite quote from this book. (Paraphrased some because I didn't write it down at the time): --about Jim Fate. "He died a hero. He would have liked that. Except for the dying part."Another crime mystery that is not full of low class language and private moments made public. The story was interesting and although I'm usually the last to figure out "who dunnit", I pegged it this time. Had to wait a long time to see if I was right, though!
review 2: meh. I don't even know why I read this. I have this awful compulsion to read an entire series once I've read a book (even a bad one), that's part of a series. the first of these books was actually some utterly random item I picked from my libray's featured audiobooks, just to see if I could handle... more audiobooks. (I've always been staunchly against them, but now that I've actually TRIED them, I find they have their place, and I've quite enjoyed many of them. but I digress...) Anyway, to tell the truth I don't want to waste time writing a review. I'm tired of the characters. I found myself secretly wishing one of the main characters would die. Not a specific one -- any of them would have done. less
