review 1: This was my first experience with this series/author. The first few chapters were boring, but just as I was thinking about quitting, it improved a lot. The villain is deducible but not easily! It was a little hard keeping all the characters straight, especially the construction workers, but the skyscraper milieu was interesting. I'd prefer a little more action and a little less graphic violence. I may try some more of this series later.
review 2: Lisa Black knows how to keep you in suspense. Its been awhile since I read a Theresa MacLean book. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the next one. Theresa is a forensic detective called to a crime scene in a construction site. As usual no one was around when it happened and no one knows anything. The boss w
... moreants everything cleaned up quickly so he can get his men back to work as soon as possible. Then Theresa finds an 11 year old at the crime scene who says the body is her mother and she saw what happened, but the only description she can give is "he's a shadowman". But Mr Shadowman saw her, doesn't know she never saw his face and now he wants to shut up the only person who can identify him. Black doesn't reveal who the killer is until near the end, so it keeps you guessing especially after another body is found the next day at the construction site. less
