review 1: This is the sequel to the book, "Ralph's Party." The first book is one of my favorites - set in London, a bunch of singletons, love in the city. "after the party" is about 11 years later and two characters, Jem and Ralph are now parents to two very young kids. Their relationship is in the toilet - will their love survive? I liked this book but it was difficult to see these two characters make so many dumb choices. The ending was good - which was nice because i was a little worried these two people would just continue their downward slide...ALl in all, i enjoyed the book but it wasn't nearly as fun and lighthearted as i was hoping.
review 2: A pretty good follow-up to Ralph's party though I felt as if the personal issues between Ralph and Gem dragged on a b... moreit during the middle part of the novel. It felt as if the author was the character's responses to their marital difficulties was pretty accurate to what might happen in real life. The 'happy ending' left me hoping for more and wasn't nearly as satisfying as the ending of Lisa Jewell's first book 'Ralph's Party'. less
