review 1: Fake. This is how I would describe this book. I don’t like to criticize writers, but I just felt that this author was so far off the mark that it seemed forced and uncomfortable. The plot seemed outrageous. While I could have believed the concept of “Alpha” teens who have realistic talents, this school was full of teens that were beyond realistic. The girls are totally phony and unlikable. The inventors and inventions were so far-fetched that they seemed laughable. The dialect also seemed phony. While I understood what the characters were saying, I kept thinking that I haven’t heard teens use the “valley girl speak” since the 80’s. Finally, the thing that irritated me the most was that there didn’t seem to be any clear resolution for any of the cha... moreracters, which gave the book an unfinished business feel that was far beyond comfortable. While I understand why an author would leave a few unfinished threads as a jump-off point for the next book in a series, this book gave no answers, leaving the reader unsettled.
review 2: I just finished this and started the next. I forgot how addictive Lisi Harrison's writing style is! I've finished three of her books in one week!!! I'm the Alpha series she ends every book with a cliff hanger that makes you read the next one. I only read the first book again because it was the only thing I had on my iPad and I enjoyed reading it the first time. I'm addicted to Lisi Harrison's writing style once again. I hope she writes a new series!! less
