review 1: I liked it better than the first book. However, while reading, I'd wished I'd re-read the first installment, since with five characters, it's a bit difficult to remember every single storyline.Of course all of these characters are over-the-top, seriously immature, and mostly have problems that the target audience won't be able to relate to (Duffy's whole Trendemic thing, Vanessa's hacking, Jagger's past...). It's a ridiculous book, and that's why it's so entertaining. Duffy's lack of empathy surprised me. He uses girls who like him and leads them on, just to boost his ego. He has no sympathy whatsoever to Lily. Yeah, what she did was a bit creepy, but he just assumes she has a mental illness and calls her crazy. Then, of course, when Lily backs off, he gets all whiny and h... moreurt because his ego can't take it.I loved Sheridan's triumph at the end. She loses Duffy and kicks butt. THAT was pretty cool.Jagger...I don't know. His storyline got a lot more boring. I was hoping for something way more interesting than what happened.Vanessa seemed a bit clueless, to be honest. It's pretty obvious Blake's gay, and for her to not see that is a bit iffy. To be honest, I can't even really remember what her storyline was. Something about hacking, I know, and her parents, but I can't completely formulate it in my head.Lily was okay, although her completely changing her attitude about school just because of one blog post definitely didn't seem likely. And I liked her a lot better when she cared about her grades.Overall, I guess I'll check out the third book.
review 2: The License to Spill is about 5 teenagers basically writing out their every day life problems (and not so every day life problems to be honest) in a journal started for their Literature class. This is the second book Pretenders by Lisi Harrison. In my opinion, I think this book was only a slight step up to Pretenders based on the characters but my judgement may be skewed since I read the first book a year ago. Either way, License to Spill is actually a nice, easy read that is still entertaining enough for you to want to keep reading. less
