review 1: I liked this book, it just didn't blow me away. I liked the writing style and though it is a sad story, it is not a depressing read. I think I wanted more of a climax to the ending and felt like it was building to something which then didn't happen. I am not normally one for reading romance novels, however I felt this may be different enough to maintain my interest and Bethesda easy read I was after, which it was. I would consider reading more of this authors novels. An ideal holiday book.
review 2: I loved this book. Immediately I was hooked on the story of Olivia and Luca. The book starts at Luca's funeral. He has been struck down, in the peak of his life, in a fatal car accident. Olivia sits uneasily with the large Italian family grieving for their son, brot
... moreher and hero. The reason for the strained family relationships slowly reveal themselves, as Olivia leaves her London home, and returns back to the small seaside town where it all began. There, she is alienated by parts of Luca's family, actively sought by others- especially by Luca's brother, Marc- and slowly but surely works through her grief, her feelings and her future. We, the reader, desperately want her to recover, but at the same time are very curious as to why Olivia is so loved and despised by her husbands family; and why she seems so alone in the world. A very well written book. And not as depressing as it sounds! less
