review 1: This is the first book I've read by Louise and sad to say it did not leave me wanting more! Could not identify with the characters or their morals in the plot found it all s bit unrealistic, I only kept reading to understand how the two main characters Luca and Liv ended up together once that came to light lost interest but as it's a slim book read on.The style of writing is easy and fine to follow but plot not engaging for me.The only deep issue it raised for me was how a girl's lack of relationship with her father could shape her relationships with men but also found the point the author was trying to make about lack of father figure too general unrealistic as I never grew up with dad. To me in the end the main female character came across as a bit of a easy lay for... more men!
review 2: I really enjoyed this book, I read it on my kindle and when I got to 85% at 1am I wanted to keep going. I liked the way it moved seamlessly between the past and the present, I found myself very sympathetic to the main character, even with all her flaws. The background subtexts were interwoven well, the storyline interesting and the ending fitted well with the rest of the book. A great holiday read, highly recommended. less
