Chief Inspector Armand Gamache
review 1: First Inspector Gamache book I've read. Good read. Several stories coincide and intersect. realising the wrong man is in prison for a murder Inspector Beauvoir goes back to Three Pines to reopen the case and find the true murderer. meanwhile in Quebec City a Champlain history fanantic is murdered in the basement of the Literature and Historical Society. Gamache relives the battle fought against terrorists planning to blow up La Grande dam where he and Beauvoir are both shot. Unfortunately the young police officer held captive to deflect police from the terrorist's real intentions dies before Gamache can reach him.
review 2: This story has three strong story lines and it works. The case of the dead hermit continues and a new case, following the death of a

Woven throughout are the memories of a tragic case that had happened recently, wounding Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and killing several of his officers. He goes to Quebec City to recover and finds himself involved in a case there. I love all these books, but I think this has been the best so far. less
