review 1: I don't understand why this series has been getting the attention it has. It's supposed to be about androids but it's really a terrible book about relationships...in the worst kind of way. It takes everything potentially interesting about a ripe subject matter and reduces it to mundanity with a heavy dose of bad drama. The relationship of the two leads is annoying and makes no sense. As times, it feels like the author is writing this book for no one but herself and doesn't care if you can follow the plot or not. A complete mess of a book.
review 2: This sequel to the more ambitious android novel vN was an enjoyable read, with a likable and interesting protagonist, but it also suffers the same narrative problem as the first. The story seems to be building
... moreto something, but when that something finally happens, it feels almost rushed. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed returning to the setting, even if the story knocks your feet out from under you roughly a third of the way through and leaves you feeling(at first), like certain events from the first novel were ultimately pointless. less

More and more, these books are making me want a book about Portia's one-vN war against humanity.
