review 1: Bought this book 50% off. If i had known this book was gonna be this good, I would have paid full price for it. The only reason I can't give it 5/5 is because it leaves off the main story about 1/4 of the way through and tangents into the main character's back story till the end of the book. You get a nice feel for the introduction characters, and then it goes back in time and you get a feel for the next set of characters. Then it's over. Still can't wait for the next one.
review 2: Provided you aren't turned off by being thrown into the middle of a battle, it'll hook you from the start. It introduces -or rather shoves you at- two important characters who obviously have rich and interesting backgrounds that will unfold later. In fact, after the battle with the... more Franks and Thorfinn's declaration of motive, we are given a glimpse into his childhood. But don't think that'll reveal the reasons behind his motive- it only introduces more characters, including a particularly interesting half-dead one! A very good start to a promising series! less
