review 1: This seemed to be an sample to get a reader interested in the full book not a stand-alone. It is dark. It is violent. It is disturbing. It is a very interesting concept for a book. There is rape, lots of it, so heed the author's warning at the beginning. I found the amount of sexual assault more than needed to get the brutality of her situation across but I was warned. Unsure if I will read the next, but Cole did intrigue me.
review 2: This series goes in my POS category.I read this series as a single book. If I had read them as a series I would not have gone past the first "book." Some of the ideas of the way the vampire world works are interesting and I think could be made into a pretty good story. Unfortunately the author was more concerned about the s... moretories erotica aspects and really dropped the ball on storyline or world building. Frankly I don't understand what the hell is going on these stories other than that apparently, the lack of sex makes these guys really aggressive and they are ready to basically end the world if they have to in order to obtain a hole to put it in.The writing is bad and confusing, the characters don't actually have character, there is essentially no plot and each "book" or chapter (as I read it) is pretty repetitive. less
