review 1: More like 3.75 stars.... For me, this Burton & Swinburne steampunk series is running out of steam. Still a good read but in no way as harrowing or intense on the adventure/action front. A more light hearted tale this one, in some ways. The time travel/parallel universe stuff needs to be on a shorter leash. I'm hoping to see a new series, or a nice one off in another genre maybe, from Hodder, next.
review 2: Nice addition to this time-travel epic, with plenty of plot twists and speculation about time paradoxes and how multiple universes might play out. Burton and Swinburne and friends keep up the friendly mockery as they confront their recent pasts and deal with a transformed Spring-Heeled Jack. It all leads up to a confrontation at the beginning point - the i... morenvention of the time travel suit - and is full of action and adventure. This is a fun series that I can recommend to steampunk and time-travel aficionados alike! less
