review 1: The best one yet. Concentrated more on characters this time around, and not so much background on Paris. But what a great setting, and always interesting glimpses into Embassy life and protocol. Hugo is a very likable character, though Tom gets all the best lines. I thought the plot and suspense flowed better in this story than in the previous ones, probably because there was less need to set up the characters and situation. Really enjoyable read.
review 2: Hugo and Tom both seem older, wiser, and more introspective in this third outing. Unraveling this book's mystery take a more circuitous route than The Bookseller, but the pace and tone of the book is more like that first novel than the faster, more thriller-esque The Crypt Thief. Hugo remains a smart an
... mored appealing hero, and in fact, the introspection he takes to here makes him even more so. I will follow his adventures wherever they next lead. And if I'm reading between the lines correctly, The Blood Promise may include a clue to his next destination, one that appeals to me greatly! less

Quick, easy, fun read. Again, not a literary groundbreaker, but so much fun!
