review 1: 10 Stars!!!!!Hands down, my favorite M/M book ever. Totally unique in this genre and standing head and shoulders above all others.It's brutal, heart-wrenching, funny, sweet, shocking and just totally amazing.I've read it three times within one year and I loved it more each time. In fact, I love it so much that I will refrain from ever reading parts 2 & 3. (I've read plot outlines and spoilers for the sequels and would rather not ruin the perfection of "Soldiers").If I'd gone just by the descriptions and warnings attached to "Soldiers", I might never have read it. Fortunately, I was swayed by the all the (by rights) gushing reviews.This is the most detailed, moving, hot, sexy – and let's not forget painful – progression of a m/m relationship I've ever read.Some naysayer... mores have criticized "Soldiers" for being one sex scene after the next. And while it's true that there is A LOT of sex to be found within these pages, all the scenes serve a purpose – strengthening the wonderfully complex Dan/Vadim relationship, building trust and allowing the protagonists to learn more about each other and themselves with every encounter.
review 2: My first M/M read, and boy did I enjoy it. Dan one Scottish cocky self assured SAS officer and Vadim the Spetsnaz Russian soldier. What turned from hate to love over a near 10 year period. I guess you could say Dan was in the wrong place at the wrong time but in fact as things turn out he was in exactly the right place.The hate and violence between these two men was so well described and I felt I was in those mountains in Kabul along side them, especially in the caves."If I offered you my body in unspeakably deprived ways would you get up, stoke the fire boil water and toss some tea leaves into a mug for me?" His lips curved into a wide grin. I loved what Dan said to Vadim it cracked me up. A great story and two hot as hell hunks to get my teeth into. Starting book 2 straight away got to know what happens between these two. less
