review 1: *Warning extreme Mary Calmes fan*I loved OLNL and was super excited to read Arman's story, unlike a lot of readers I never thought Arman and Tucker were going to be a real item, because of how Arman looked at Linus. I really wanted the two together and honestly at first I thought Arman was a dragon (I mean come on that would have been awesome) maybe a bear? Not a lion (thanks to Shelly Laurenston I know how lazy and vain they are) maybe a big white snow leopard? But when I found out what he was it was perfect and it fit.I won't go into detail on the plot (tons of other people already have) I will say that I love Arman, I love him like I love my other mean deadly heroes. Yea sometimes he's an a-hole, it's in his personality and I thought Linus fit him perfectly. I just ... morefinished listening to the Change of Heart series on audio and all I can say is, as much as I loved that series, Mary's writing has really evolved and this series has the perfect amount of steam, action, violence and romance.On a side not I will say that a subtle thing that I loved was how Arman couldn't understand Quade's attraction to Roman. Arman was a separate type of hero, he loved how beautiful Linus was compared to him, how perfect and graceful Linus was. This was such a small point but it differentiated the type of heroes Mary can write and I have to say I've added Arman to my book harem... in the deadly and vicious section :)
review 2: Is it me, or was this story a big convoluted mess? Sigh... I liked Arman and even Linus, but the plot and characterizations were just a bit too over the top at some points. I usually don't mind over the top, but it has to make sense, the pieces have to fit, you know? Plot points being thrown at me out of nowhere and personalities changing every two seconds just didn't do it for me. So, yeah, disappointed. less
