review 1: I really dislike not being able to give half a star rating because if that was allowed, this collection of poems would receive 3.5 stars. I decided to round down because honestly, none of the poems spoke to me. One of my favorite poem is by Mary Oliver, so I've been trying to discover more of her poems that speak to me and as of yet none have. Still searching, but I am slowly learning that the one poem I love from her is an anomaly.
review 2: Every Mary Oliver poem feels like a small gift-- so gentle, so serene, so rich in wisdom, so awestruck at the human condition and at the natural world. Some of them are rather funny, a few bubble over with indignation, but most of them reflect a sense of grandeur that only comes from being outside, marveling at the created... more order. A most excellent volume, then, and a great companion for these first days of spring. less
